Why Choose Somatic Work with Acupuncture for Fertility?
How I Think About Fertility Support
Fertility challenges can touch many layers at once:
Physical: cycles, ovulation, pain, digestion, sleep, fatigue
Emotional: grief, disappointment, anxiety, hope, frustration, excitment
Relational: partner dynamics, family expectations, medical systems
Nervous system: chronic stress, burnout, or feeling “stuck” in fight/flight or collapse
My work is to help your body move toward greater regulation, coherence, and nourishment—so that your system is better able to do what it knows how to do, whether that’s conceiving, sustaining a pregnancy, or simply reclaiming a sense of wholeness in the process.
Somatic Therapy and the Fertility Journey
Somatic work is body-oriented therapy that supports you in listening to and gently working with your nervous system. In these sessions, we may:
Track sensations, emotions, and impulses in the body with curiosity and care
Work with stress, anxiety, and overwhelm so they feel more manageable
Attend to grief, disappointment, or past experiences that may be resurfacing
Explore how your body responds to medical procedures, timelines, and decisions
Build resources for grounding, self-compassion, and inner steadiness
Somatic work is not about “thinking positively” or forcing yourself to relax. It’s a slow, respectful process of helping your body feel safer, more supported, and more connected to its own intelligence.
Acupuncture for Fertility
In acupuncture sessions, I use Chinese Medicine to address patterns that may be affecting your fertility, such as:
Regulating the menstrual cycle and supporting ovulation
Supporting blood flow to the pelvis and uterus
Easing PMS, painful periods, or other cycle-related symptoms
Supporting digestion, sleep, and energy, which all impact reproductive health
Calming the nervous system to reduce the impact of stress on the body
If you’re using assisted reproductive technologies (IUI, IVF, medications), acupuncture can be used alongside your medical treatment to support your body through each phase of the process. I do not replace your fertility doctor, but I often work in a complementary way with reproductive endocrinologists, OB/GYNs, and other providers.
Scope and Collaboration
I do not diagnose or treat medical fertility conditions in the way a physician does, and I cannot guarantee pregnancy or a particular outcome. My role is to support your body and nervous system, walk with you in the emotional terrain of this process, and collaborate—when appropriate—with your other providers.
I always work at the pace of consent. You are never required to talk about anything you’re not ready for, and we can adjust the structure of our work as your needs and treatment plans change.
