Entering the Circle

(Considerations Prior to your Reading)

The Circle of an astrological chart is a portal to a sacred and liminal space. The Circle is a place of magic, discovery, possibility and meaning making. It is an oracular tool used for divination; for seeing what we cannot see without it.

The Circle contains the symbolism of the night sky, the stars, the planets, the constellations and sacred geometrical aspects. It holds within its symbolism the great body of myth and archetypal forces, both personal and collective, that weave our lives together with beauty, pain, and mystery. The Circle speaks to us in metaphor and insight.

Approaching the Circle should be done with reverence.”

Approach it as if you were approaching an ancient temple. Imagine, at the center of this temple there is a deep pool. As you look into the pool, it reflects back. The reason, the occasion and the time in which you look into the pool will render a different way in which the symbols of the natal chart speak, although the chart always stays the same. This is the nature of oracular tools, they speak to the moment. Revealing what must be revealed. *

Each placement in the chart can never fully be understood as you still have life to live and meaningful ways in which your own personal mythos will unfold. The symbols will change as you change and they will speak differently to you in different contexts of your life. The chart can be revisited and revisited, always revealing itself in a different light.

The chart is a pathway to relationship with the Gods and our experiences with the Gods as they administer our fate. The Gods do not exist outside of ourselves, but within our bodies as clusters of energy, complexes and drives hungering for expression. Carl Jung observed that when these inner energies are not made conscious, it happens outside of ourselves, as fate.

*Some of the ideas presented about the chart as a portal and divination tool were presented to me by one of my teachers, Adam Elenbaas. I am grateful for his teaching and guidance.

I recommend the following for your consideration:

  • Spend some time in contemplation or meditation prior to the reading.

  • Ask yourself what is it that you would like to know. Focus on what is most important to you right now.

  • Refine your findings into Specific Questions to bring to the reading.

  • If your reading is via Zoom, please make sure that you have ample privacy in the space we will be conversing.

  • Wear comfortable clothing.

  • Prior to our time together, I build a ritual container for our meeting. I invite helping ancestors and healing spirits into our relational field and meditate on any information you have provided for me so we can explore our goals for our session with deep intention.

  • It is not necessary, but I invite you to also create your own sacred space through ritual. It can be as simple as cleaning the room of clutter, burning some incense, lighting a candle, praying etc…A ritual is a method of creating a strong intention. State your intention.

  • During our session, pay attention to any physical sensations. The body talks; we should stop to listen. Please share with me what you are experiencing as we talk and discuss.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to our time together.
